A story with impact. This is a flow-on story from the initial story on Tuesday of Virgin Blue’s crash of its check-in system. Damage to a Telstra cable underneath Tullamarine airport apparently caused the problem, leaving 6000 passengers affected, and 48 flights cancelled. It had a particularly big impact on Tasmania. Once flights were up and running again, Virgin booked out all the spare seats on its flights to Tasmania, as well as all other airlines, and put on one extra special flight, yet it still took two full days from the outset of the crisis to get all travellers to Tasmania.
